Prior to becoming a licensed counselor, I worked as a police officer for the Columbia Police Department (Columbia, SC) for nearly eight years. During that time I became personally aware of the unique challenges and stressors that first responders experience in the course of their work. I began to see the need for more mental health providers who could both understand first responder culture and support them through delivering effective treatment. In light of that, I made a decision to pursue a career change, earning my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and joining the counseling team at Vine & Branches Counseling.
I provide counseling services to individuals looking to work on a variety of issues including past traumatic experiences, relational difficulties, depression, and anxiety. Connecting with a counselor can be a scary experience, so my aim is to always develop a positive working relationship with clients that empowers them to reach their counseling goals. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Columbia International University and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Liberty University. Depending on a client’s background, preference, and need, I will generally utilize the following therapies:
-Cognitive Behavior Therapy
-Reality Therapy
-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
-Christian Counseling
